The Men's doubles saw some very strong pairing from among the 54 players entering. Likely contenders Richard Brown and Kevin Caldon progressed to the final with wins over Sochanic/ Vaskanin, Sweeney/ Taylor (being taken to five here),and Whatton and Jackman in the semi-final. Their opponents were Stuart Gibbs and Pete Saunders, who had replaced the original partner Jamie Willson who was on desk duty. This pair had defeated Bryant/Atkinson and then Reeves/ McLeod and Bassett/Barker in two tough matches, winning the latter 11-9 in the fifth..

In the final, Brown and Caldon were convincing winners 11-9,11-3,11-8.

The Over 70's had three entries, with Les Tayler beating Ray Farmer in the final 11-9,8-11,11-7,11-8.

 

The Vet's Singles Sunday event had 47 entries, and the first two seeds duly proceeded to the final. Kevin Caldon defeated Geoff Banthorpe, Chris Aukett, Gary Baker and George Reeves. Meanwhile Stuart Gibbs had victories over Ray Farmer, Richard Brown, Dave Bassett and Babul McLeod.

In the final Kevin dropped his first game in the event, but still ran out a comfortable winner 11-9,9-11,11-6, 11-6.
